Grounding techniques from the MBCT-L framework, applied to the natural landscape.
Most of us spend our lives on a form of "automatic pilot", managing lists, reacting to notifications, and lost in thought. This two-hour walk is a practical session designed to interrupt that cycle. Using evidence-based techniques from the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) framework, we use the natural landscape of the Malvern Hills to help steady the mind and ground the body.
The Experience
These walks are designed as a "mindful break", a way to step out of the driven "doing" mode of daily life and into a state of mindful "being." We focus on two core skills:
-
Waking up from Automatic Pilot: Learning to recognise when the mind has wandered and gently bringing it back to the present.
-
The Body as an Anchor: Using the physical act of walking and the senses to find a sense of steadiness when life feels frantic.
Nature Connection
Rather than a fitness challenge, this is an exercise in awareness. We use the sensory data of the hills; the terrain underfoot, the sounds, and the movement of the air, to move from over-thinking to direct experience.
